Agro-Water Contest in Mekong Delta
Call for (Smart) Proposals – deadline 31 October 2020.
Over the decades, Vietnam and the Netherlands have built up a dynamic strategic relationship, particularly in the areas of water management and sustainable agriculture. After delivering the Mekong Delta Plan in 2013, the Netherlands is currently working on an Agricultural Transformation Plan to support the country in moving away from intensive rice farming toward more high-value and sustainable food production systems. This approach, in which water management and agriculture are inextricably linked, is a pre-condition for success to address the increasing prevalence of flooding, drought, salt intrusion as well as land subsidence in the delta.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hanoi has launched an ‘Agro-Water Contest’ and in this regard is seeking sustainable, smart and (technically) innovative Dutch concepts to address the challenges in the Mekong Delta. Be quick and submit your proposals by 31 October to HAN-LNV@minbuza.nl. The winners, announced on 14 November, will receive prize money, magazine publication and further business advice.
